Collapsed lifter noise?

Do collapsed lifters always make noise? I have a dead miss on Cyl 4 in an L83 and a ton of smoke from unburnt fuel. No unusual ticking noises though. Do fuel injectors fail stuck open often? Pulled plug and was wet with fuel. Next step is pulling valve cover and running on 4 cyls.

Looks like it's most likely a spunlifter. Time for a full mechanical delete. I do offer these at https://www.crazedperformancerepair.com/afm-delete-kits if you are interested in what I have available.

Feel free to pull the VLOM if you're up for it though and double check that you don't see the hole in the side of the lifter like the rest of them show.

If you have lots of unburnt fuel you might just have a stuck open injector. But before digging into that considering The other things that can cause a misfire and smoke check to make sure you have good compression first. Check both cranking compression and running compression.
