Well I got the knocking sound and then a #6 misfire. Opened up the valve cover to find that my #4 exhaust lifter looks like it came apart inside. Gonna have to pull the head to see how bad things are. Anyone else seen this? These are as good as I could get with the scope I have.
The cam lobe looks much better than this roller. Gonna take a chance and run it. Replacing my injectors while I am this far. They look pretty bad. Do I need to replace the high pressure fuel pump, or any other lines seals in the fuel line? I am replacing the 2 lines that feed from the HPFP to the rails, but not sure if the pump is a replace if removed item. I have my computer back from LS1, so I am hoping my family car will be running in the next few days.
It won't be long before you have a noise from the cam being damaged. Those camshafts in the LT based engines are very soft. Unfortunately when you look at the cam lobe from The lifter side it will play tricks on your eyes. It will look like it's in better shape than it is. I'd rather see you do a full delete and skip out on having the heads machined then to just replace the bad lifter and hope that it holds up for a little while. See my last comment I just left before this one. Due to my delayed response I'm replying to both your comments now.
